Tech & Design Exploration

When I am not busy with life, writing, hiking, or exploring ideas, I am developing. This is a space for sharing my current after hours projects and general discussion of tech and design.

General LLM Desktop Interface for Bedrock

A small extremely simple local chat interface for Amazon Bedrock. Pick any Bedrock model, organize chats under projects (system prompt + project data + rolling memory), use built-in tools for searching your past chats, generating images, and searching the web. All chat history and credentials are encrypted at rest in SQLite. It is a simple workhorse interface for when you want to use foundational models at cost, with privacy, and unmanaged.

Oread – An Exploration in AI and Vibe Code

Oread began as an attempt to explore AI companion apps at a local level — privacy-first, not controlled by any business or person except me. It was also the first time I used AI to code for me: I provided the ideas and architecture and let AI handle the routine heavy lifting. Beyond that, it was my first foray into implementing memory for AI chat, integrating external services like search, and learning how to work with local models from the ground up.

Oread has a CLI
The CLI supports any model thru Ollama, OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Cloudflare AI Gateway, or AWS Bedrock. It provides the backend for the Oreads GUI. It even supports using your existing companion AI like Nomi and Kindroid ( still being tested. ) Oread is primarily going to be a roleplay and writing app.

Chronicles – A Life Journal

I’ve always been a journaler and a fan of bullet-style journaling. I also completed the Google Project Management Certificate and like to apply some of those same tools to how I organize my life. Recently, I’ve been working through new medication to manage a condition called MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome), which involves controlling allergic responses and requires careful tracking and timing of all medications and dietary choices.

That convergence — journaling habit, project management thinking, and a real medical need — led me to build a journal application. The app lets me track:

  • Medication
  • Diet
  • Exercise
  • Symptoms

The app uses that information to cross-correlate between them and identify patterns that help me better manage my condition.

Beyond health tracking, it includes goal planning and life project management in a Trello-style Kanban system with goal tracking, milestones, and tasks.

It has specialized views for tracking your books, music, quotes, ideas, and anything else you want to journal about and then refer back to.

It is all-in-one journal and life planning tool currently hosted thru Vercel which I and a few close friends have been using.

The original prototype code was built as Next app with Claude Code, but I did not restrict the architecture during development and ended up with some pretty monolithic components. I am working on rebuilding into a more maintainable and scalable application which I can potentially open up to other users eventually.
